On October 1, 2025, the first class of students in the Materials Design program entered the lecture halls of the Sežana College of Materials Design (VSOM).
This event represents a significant milestone in the school’s development, as it marks the start of higher education programs and the transition from the establishment phase to active academic operations.
The program combines design, technical, and practical skills and guides students through the entire creative process—from concept and planning to the development of prototypes and final products.
The emphasis is on integrating traditional skills with modern technologies, which enables the development of competencies for working in the creative industries and the contemporary design environment.
The Materials Design program is based on an interdisciplinary approach that includes:
-understanding materials and their properties
-product and spatial design
-the use of digital tools and 3D technologies
-hands-on work in workshops and companies
Through their studies, students gain knowledge and practical experience that they can directly apply in a real-world work environment.

The Significance of the First Generation
The first generation of students forms the foundation for the school’s future development. Through their creativity, knowledge, and hard work, they help shape the identity of VSOM and lay the groundwork for future generations.
At the school, we take pride in everything that has been established over the past years—from the development of the curriculum to the creation of a space where knowledge, creativity, and practice converge.
A Look into the Future
VSOM strives to create a stimulating academic environment that fosters the development of innovative ideas, materials research, and close collaboration with industry.
We wish our students a successful, creative, and inspiring academic year.
