Where the tradition of the Karst meets contemporary design.
Stone holds a special place in the Karst region—it has shaped the area’s architecture, landscape, and cultural identity for centuries. This workshop is therefore dedicated to exploring, preserving, and further developing stone masonry knowledge and skills.
The workshop took place over three consecutive Saturdays, from 21 February to 7 March 2026. Participants were introduced to the basic characteristics of Karst stone, traditional stone masonry tools, and manual stone-working techniques.
Under the mentorship of designer and sculptor Špela Šedivy, participants created stone products based on their own ideas and designs. Through hands-on practice, they discovered how traditional craftsmanship can be combined with contemporary approaches and design.
Upon completion, participants received a certificate confirming their successful completion of the workshop program. We are already planning future workshops and the development of new modules in the field of Materials Design, including opportunities to earn micro-credentials.
The next workshop is scheduled for 12, 19, and 26 September. No prior experience is required. You are warmly invited to join us.
