Where the traditions of the Karst meet contemporary design.
Stone holds a special place in the Karst—for centuries, it has shaped the architecture, landscape, and cultural identity of the region. The workshop is therefore dedicated to learning about, preserving, and further developing stonemasonry skills and techniques.
The workshop took place over three consecutive Saturdays, between February 21 and March 7, 2026. Participants learned about the basic properties of Karst stone, traditional stonemasonry tools, and manual stone-working techniques.
Under the guidance of designer and sculptor Špela Šedivy, participants developed their own conceptual designs and gradually transformed them into concrete stone products made of Karst limestone, measuring 20 x 25 x 10 cm. In the process, they also came to understand the significance of the material that has shaped the character of Karst architecture and the cultural landscape for centuries.
Upon completion, participants received a certificate confirming their successful completion of the workshop program, and we are already planning to continue the workshops and develop new modules in the field of material design, including the option to earn micro-credentials.

The next workshop will take place on three consecutive Saturdays: September 19, September 26, and October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Mentors are Špela Šedivy and Sibila Leskovec.
